DAYTONA BEACH — Roaring in the draft of excitement for the Daytona 500, Ford Rock and Race Fest returns next month to the city’s downtown area along the Halifax River to fuel race fans’ energy during the heart of SpeedWeeks.
The fourth annual Ford Race and Rock Fest hits center stage February 9-10 on Beach Street in downtown Daytona Beach, the core of the city’s historic shopping, dining and entertainment district from 3 to 11 p.m. each day. Admission and parking are free.
With Daytona International Speedway at the epicenter of SpeedWeeks 2010, track President Robin Braig recognizes opportunities for everyone with Ford Race and Rock Fest. “Daytona International Speedway and Daytona 500 Experience are proud to support the fourth annual Race and Rock Fest. As a proud member of this community, we welcome racing-related activities that round out the SpeedWeeks experience for fans,” Braig said. “If they attend the Race and Rock Fest, it’s likely they’ll attend one of our races, so it’s good business around the city and for us.”
“Race fans’ passion and enthusiasm for the Daytona 500 are what have made Ford Race and Rock Fest a staple of SpeedWeeks,” said Tim Duerr, the marketing manager for Ford Racing. “We are proud to be able to put smiles on the faces of so many fans as the Ford family of drivers try to defend the 2010 Daytona 500 victory.”
Highlighted by NASCAR driver appearances, each night offers a free concert featuring bona fide rock ’n’ roll legends, Eddie Money and Tony Stevens, the bass player who founded Foghat.
For Tuesday night’s performance, Waste Management presents Tony Stevens’ Slow Ride, giving new energy to powerful chords like “Slow Ride” and “Fool for the City.”
On Wednesday night, Best Buy presents Eddie Money and his list of top-40 hits like “Two Tickets to Paradise,” “Baby Hold On” and “Walk on Water.”
A concept developed and produced by Ormond Beach sports- and entertainment-marketing firm Progressive Edge Marketing, Ford Race and Rock Fest’s exciting two-day schedule also features a new Pet Zone as well as displays from sponsors and participants like Budweiser, Jack Daniel’s, Hamburger Helper, NASA and Daytona International Speedway’s Daytona 500 Experience.
“The success of this amazing event grows each year because our partners provide something for the entire family,” said Deanna Bedford, president of Progressive Edge and a 14-year marketing veteran “They know that the loyalty and support from race fans in Daytona Beach can’t be beat.”
This year’s community-involvement aspect of the festival pleases Albert Cisson, the vice president of Progressive Edge.
